Day out @ Balcony

Hehe my fav! Balloons!! We gave out freebies, attracted people in ways we normally don't, meet fun people like Jasmine & Lester (who've got a pushcart at The Cathay selling clothes, say Hi to them!) Chat with our customers (old and new alike) and lovely people everywhere. Ironically the most comfortable time for the customers was when it was late evening and some of the other stallholders have actually left and the weather was cooler, customers got to sit down on the comfy stools and chat with the stall holders. I find that such a relaxing way to shop!

Drove from Clarke Quay to Chinatown Point with the balloons outside the car, all thanks to my crazy friends. But really, it was fun. The reaction we got from other road users. Lol. A pity we didn't have our websites on the balloons, an unintended publicity stunt! I really thank god for such crazy friends who inject so much fun into my life.

Thank you for friends old and new, and really I appreciate every single one of you and the moments we share!

Love,
Dawne

Balcony Bar Promo Voucher

Yep, a collaboration with my friends from Angelicious Creations & Cheryl Bianca. Print the voucher, come down to the Balcony Bar, say hello, pick an item you fancy, present the voucher and go home happily with your purchase! All in the good name of supporting the Dawne's Japan Bead Shopping Fund, the more you contribute the more things I can buy to create pretty and unique stuff that you and I won't find in Singapore. Sounds good eh. =) See ya there!

Dawne - SOLD

A friend of mine commented that I liked black and white when he first met me and I was just talking about how I seldom wore black and white after that comment earlier. Then came along this bracelet and I had to eat my words. The best part was throughout the conversation while I was chatting with Jacqueline of Angelicious Creations, I was happily wirewrapping the beads away. Yes I did take quite some time and no it's not cause we were happily yakking. Well the product of my hardwork. Faceted white jade ovals and kimono lentils from Karin, rhodium and silver components.

Josephine - SOLD

Carnelian discs topped with green oynx faceted rounds. At first glance they remind me of apples and when Morgan was placed side by side, I thought I'd unintentionally come up with a fruit themed series.

Morgan - SOLD

Very very pretty peach aventurine donuts matched with aragonite carved roses. Reminds me of tangerines.

Imelda - SOLD

Imelda Marcos had an addiction for shoes, wonder who's the Imelda Marcos of earrings. Glass teardrops in a gold plated wired frame.

Miranda - SOLD

Lovely blue cloisonne donuts complemented by peridot jasper and peach aventurine rounds. Needless to say, yet another classic.

Jasmine - SOLD

White dagger beads wire wrapped to the gold disc. A Hellenic inspired creation, not totally Spartan but more Grecian. The gold and white brings to mind royalty and purity both in the body and in mind. Measures 5cm.

Roshan - SOLD

Roshan's a persian name symbolising shining and splendid. By now you would have guessed the inspiration for this piece. The persian's love of gold, decadence is captured in this piece, although my guess is that it's not as decadent as a true persian would be. Gold filled wire frame & 14K gold plated ear hooks. Measures 3.5cm excluding ear hooks.

Junie - SOLD

Junie is a lovely nature green creation, using Karin's pretty polymer clay beads with matching green czech glass beads. One of those glass beads where I never think I'll be able to match them with something and somehow they always manage to go perfectly with her lovely beads.

Alicia - SOLD

Alicia wears dainty shoes and flits around lightly on her tippy toes. Pretty seafoam quartz ringed in by a gilded 4cm gold ring. The colors are really lovely and has this really ethereal quality to it. 14K gold plated earhooks.

Vermillion Sky - SOLD

I love the word and color vermillion. I don't know you if you remember those boxes of color pencil in primary school which was double-sided and came in boxes of 24 or 42 colors. I was always intrigued by the name vermillion because I've never come across this name for the strong orange hue anywhere else but in that box of color pencils. So now I take great delight in calling this creation by it's color. =) I've kept it simple by topping the czech glass beads with white alabaster swarovski crystals.

Sonia - SOLD

Champagne cubic zirconia teardrops the same size as Sasha. 14K plated earrhooks and goldfilled wirewrapping.

Trinette & Jeanette - SOLD

Trinette & Jeanette are so close that they insist on being photographed together. Buffalo turquoise topped with a straw hat brass charm and a little glass flower, the butterfly and flowers differentiate this pair of twins. Not exactly identical but almost a photocopy of each other.

Ringo - SOLD

Japanese imported enamel apples that are double sided. Positively delish. I love the encrusted rhinestones on the bigger apple (2cm while the smaller apple is 1.2cm). Toggle closure to end the 19" necklace.

All that glitters IS 14K gold!

I've finally found 14k gold plated earhooks! I'm in a slow process of migrating all my materials to 14k and rhodium/925 base with white gold plating. This means no more discoloration of earhooks or tarnishing and things like that come with costume jewellery. A lot of times the materials I buy, I do not have full quality control as they don't come from my own factory, but based on the trust of the shopkeeper. I can test for quality when I make stuff to wear on my own, but sometimes by the time the plating comes off/tarnishes the damage may be done when you as the customer may wear it more frequently than I do. Therefore I do exchanges for parts and repairs free of charge, as you are part of my QC loop. By returning or informing me about the parts that have not stood the test of time and wear, you're increasing the quality of the creations that I churn out. To this, you the customer benefits! While I get to hear about happy stories of customers who fell in love with their desired piece that they can wear for years. I wanna make you an "addict" for life. Heh. Have a great weekend, while I try to churn out a few pieces before plunging back to the madness that school-life entails.

Love always,
Dawne

Sabrina - SOLD

Sabrina is funky cool in this white jannite collar. A perfect canvas to display the lovely lentils handmade by Karin. I can already think of 10 combinations to wear Sabrina out with, I'm sure you can do that better than me! Measures 18", would fit right at the collarbone.

Sasha - SOLD

Black cubic zirconia teardrops that measures approx. 4cm in length. Elegance just drips off these teardrops that were imported from the US. 925 silver based ear hooks with white gold plating and sterling silver wires.

Monday, March 05, 2007

Daisy - SOLD

Daisy for the flowers not Donald Duck's missus. Sunshiney creation that's not too sweet, but nevertheless still exuding a little touch of girlish charm. Yellow jade nuggets are capped with gold tone pewter bead caps.

Tivona - SOLD

Tivona is a hebrew name for one who loves nature. The greens of the olive quartz and the freedom that the swallow in flight inspires, reminds me of what nature has to give. Hopefully it inspires you the same.

Fiery Passion - SOLD

For the lady whose life is led by passion in whatever she does. The way she speaks and carries herself will keep you a captive audience. Fiery, unafraid to blaze through the barriers that others put up for fear of being ignited by the very fire that lights up her life. Distinctive and undeniably attractive. Fiery passion will blaze her way into your heart and melt you down. Coral Beads, Swarovski crystals, seed beads and fire polished czech glass beads.

Adrienne - SOLD

Adrienne is simple but showcases very rare and lovely white turquoise or buffalo turquoise as it's affectionately named. Pewter bead caps secure the lovely stones and powdered almond swarovski pearls as topping. 925 silver base and white gold plated earhooks. Measures 4cm in length.

"Turquoise gets its color from the heavy metals in the ground where it forms. Blue turquoise forms when there is copper present, which is the case with most Arizona turquoises. Green turquoise forms where iron is present, the case with most Nevada turquoises. Sacred Buffalo turquoise forms where there are few heavy metals present, which turns out to be a very rare occurence. The lack of any specific color consistency makes this stone distinctive and unique from other turquoises. To date, no other vein of this turquoise has been discovered anywhere else and when this current vein runs out, that will be the last of it. Because this tuquoise is as rare as the sacred buffalo, the Indians call it "Sacred Buffalo" Turquoise."

Susie - SOLD

Susie is a polymer clay creation with 14K gold chain tassles and a dollop of whipped cream atop the strawberry cheesecake lentil. I know I most probably am thinking too much but I couldn't help it. Heh.

Peggy - SOLD

Peggy is mod funk encapsulated in these retro looking acrylic hoops, with a whiff of attitude in the asymmetrical I-couldn't-care-less-to-match-my-stuff kind of way. Nonetheless she still carries a touch of sophistication like her other Earring Addict sisters in the onyx globe waiting to ensnare any unsuspecting onlooker.

Catherine - SOLD

Lovely diamond hoops of amazonite and red rose tensha beads on gold hooks. A brighter and cheerier version of Karin. Someone who loves being girlish and loud at the same time. Nobody said loud girls have to settle for being tomboys.
